Supported Contact

NRS Child Contact Centre offers the facility of supported contact for those families who parent apart. This is a safe space for parents and children to be together. Supported contact means that this is not supervised, the children will be under the guidance of the non-resident parent and centre staff will check on the family periodically.

The following is our referral process:

  • Referrals for supported contact can be received by Solicitors or by self-referrals. (If you are self-referring then both parties would need to complete their own referral).
  • Once the referral is received by the Centre Manager at NRS Child Contact Centre, a desktop risk assessment is completed
  • Parents will be invited to attend the office or the pre-visit meeting may be completed virtually either by Zoom or Microsoft Teams. These meetings always take place separately.
  • The Centre Manager will ask a series of questions to enable her to make a full judgement on the case and enable NRSCC to complete their own risk assessment.
  • Once both meetings have been completed, contact can then be scheduled.
  • Parties will be asked to arrive at staggered times
  • NRSCC will check on the progress of contact, but there will not be written reports unless there is a specific safeguarding or health incident.
